5000 BABY!

I'm happy to share that yesterday after my 3 page views, I officially hit 5002 page views on my blog! Regardless of whether this is actually an accomplishment in the blogging world, I'm pretty excited about it. Remember that this blog started as a school project, one that I was reluctant to do. Since then I've started to like it, and look for things in the my daily life to share with you, such as this shot that I took this morning. Note to self: do not go to bed with wet hair. It's also a test to see if Greg actually reads my blog because that's one of his favourite shirts. Anyways, I couldn't have achieved this likely non-accomplishment without you, my readers, so thanks again. Hope you're having as much fun with it as I am :)

Junk watch

I've been moved out on my own for almost a year at this point, but I still can't help but be on the lookout for junk people left at the side of the road. Lets be clear that a lot of it is actually junk that belongs there for the garbage man to take it away, but once in a while it's good stuff. Greg's bbq, my nightstand, a cd player, an organizer we keep in the storage under the stairs to name a few. The items I didn't get from strangers I got from my family, such as my tv stand, the two Ikea organizers, and my coffee tables. When you're moving out for the first time and have nothing, anything sounds great. Sometimes I call Greg, "do you need a _____?" and he knows I'm not standing in a store where they're selling one for a good price. It's hard to shake yourself of that mentality, and even now I notice things people leave out.

Spot the beaver

They had a choice of ANY animal...and they just HAD to pick the beaver.
Spot the MOOSE just didn't have the same ring to it?

Liar liar

Has it ever happened to you that you're innocently going about your day, and you'll hear people talking on their cell phones? I'm not eavesdropping, but clearly their conversation isn't private, they're practically screaming at the phone. My dad does this too, it's modern technology people, just like the speakers at drive through's, they are designed for you to be able to speak at a normal volume and be heard. So anyways, sometimes when people are screaming at their phones it's because they're running late, and then they do this thing that completely cracks me up. "Yea, hunny I'll be right there, I'm just driving over the bridge..." No you're not. You're standing in a bank lobby. This happens more often then you'd think. "Yea, I'm almost there, just pulling into the driveway" when they're in front of you in line at the grocery store. One of these days I'm going to scream back at their hunny and call them out. Wouldn't that be fun? "NO HE'S NOT, HE'S LYING! HE'S STILL AT THE BAR, HE'LL BE ANOTHER 20 MINUTES AT LEAST..." Or even better, I hope someone does while I'm talking to Greg, I'm 90% sure he does this to me ALL the time.

Bad after date

I'm sure everyone knows someone who's a stickler about best before dates on food. My sister won't eat anything if she knows the dates gone by already, and sometimes she's throw something out a couple days before just to be on the safe side. I'm the complete opposite. I sniff test, and cut or peel off bad/moldy parts all the time.

That date for me is just a guideline, and isn't it technically just the last day the store can sell the product? When I shop I hunt for the food that's been discounted because it's about the expire, and those yellow stickers get me excited. It works especially if you freeze food to eat it later, like my parents who used to buy egg nog after Christmas when it was super cheap so we'd have some all year long. Maybe I'll think differently the day I make myself and/or others sick. Yes it's best before, but I don't consider it a "bad after date".

Drunk glasses

In April Clearly Contacts was having this deal where you got your first pair of glasses free, you only had to pay the shipping. So for around $15 I could get a whole new pair of glasses! I needed my eyes tested anyhow, so I called to make an appointment with my optometrist, but only day they could see me was the last day the deal was on. So by the time I got around to ordering them, it was late and I was quite tired. Anyone who doesn't need glasses might not have ever seen the prescription sheet they give you, but it's pretty cryptic looking...

My pink heart glasses came only a few days later, and I couldn't open the box fast enough. I put them on and...ugh. Everything was mega blurry and off quilter, they felt like drunk goggles. I staggered and stumbled to the bathroom to see what they looked like and hit everything on the way there. When I closed one eye though, they were great! So it turns out,  I entered my prescription wrong in the left eye.

I emailed Clearly Contacts not expecting much since it was my own darn fault, but I was pleasantly surprised. They sent me a shipping label to sent back the wrong pair, and sent me the right pair in another couple days, free of charge. Despite my error, their customer service was FABULOUS! So maybe ordering your glasses online has some kinks, but they've got them all worked out I'd say. No more fashionably drunk glasses for me!

Ugly happy

I will argue that there is a level of smiling and being happy that is so extreme that it should never be photographed. We've all been there. "I think I'm smiling TOO MUCH" It's great to capture the moment, such as this photo at Easter when I found a gift Aleisha hid for me, but it's by no means my favourite shot of myself. I'm just too happy. Some people just don't get as excited about trivial things as I do, and although they have no threat of having a shot that's ugly happy, I might also argue they have less fun. But do keep this in mind when someone says, "smile!" for the next picture. Shots like this one can't be undone.

Sometimes it's obvious some people are just at the mall for the air conditioning...
